EUT Program
We’d like to announce the start of the Earth and Utopia Tools (EUT) program. Some of you have been working for a long time on some very cool tools which support the Utopia and Earth communities. We’d like to recognize this by having a formal list of the Official tools that we can point new players to and encourage to download/use. Anyone who is on the EUT program will also get advance schedules of our internal development plans, so that you can manage compatibility and add features as you see fit.
We’ve spoken to a lot of the developers already but anyone who’s interested should get in touch by mailing eut@omacindustries.com
The list will be up in the next week or two but we’d initially like to announce that Brother Green’s Utopia Angel will be one of the first on the EUT Program. We asked him for a quote and he was kind enough to say the following:
“After 9 years of existence, we are grateful to the new owners of
Utopia for officially endorsing Utopia Angel, the leading tool for
Utopia. This demonstrates OMAC’s intention to keep close relationship
with the community. We are honored to inaugurate the official EUT
list. This may not be a coincidence, as if you look closely you will
see that UT is a major part of EUT. ;-)”

It’s nice to see Utopia will have more of a connection with players and fan sites than the basic “Naming the Age” thing. :)

This might be an incredible longshot, but is there any chance you folks would consider endorsing or even taking over Utopia Pimp?
Or at the very least, creating a table in-game and allowing kd members to add intel to archives?
Would be a huge boon to players but might not have that much ROI for the development resources required.

Well at last!! Some official recognition for The Angel.
Advance notification of ALL the gameplay changes to Bro Green is long overdue. Congrats Omac on making a positive start.
Where are the proposed gameplay changes posted for comment / discussion??? I don’t mean Bugs & Suggestions. I understood that after talking with a small group of players that you were going to post “possible changes” for everyone to discuss / comment on. I can’t find that thread anywhere.

I think this is great. I thought this should have been done a long time ago. So, good job OMAC!

The age of change leaks :)
What do you define as tools?
Cause people put a fair amount of effort into some irc scripts…
btw catwalk, if you say ‘tool = tzar’ or words to that effect I will take over #strategy and ruin it. I don’t know how, but I will :p

Nice idea! Great job OMAC!
Should add metatron.. metatron is a plugin for firefox browser. Enchance utopia to be able send mass message, show nw/acre, etc..
July 31st, 2008 at 8:11 am
Very nice idea - finding out about these tools needed for playing utopia probably is a big barrier for newbies, that can be reduced this way.
I’m curious what else will come… Is there any chance you could make a post dedicated to answering user submitted questions?
I’d for example be interested in hearing what your commercial plans for utopia are (generate revenue the same way as before or will there be changes to the underlying business model in the longer run?) and your attitude towards account trading and multiing. I’m sure others would have other interesting questions.

Angel rocks :D
other stuff to endorse:
* utopiapimp
* pimpagent (ff plugin)
* metatron plus (ff plugin)
–
of course, it would be most awesome if utopiapimp’s features could actually be built into the game itself. Woohaah.

There is a firefox extension for Earth2025 floating around. Nothing high powered.
Most of the tools for Earth are built around the data feeds from the site. Country list and news feeds.
Earthstats.net is the main hosting site for many Earth alliances and has built in tools.
July 31st, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Metatron honestly I think should just be assimilated by the game. All Metatron does is add in features that really should be in the game anyway. Maybe OMAC can use the features found in Metatron and incorporate them into the actual game.

The following website is a very powerful chart website that imports all of the ingame lists and creates trending data from the charts. This deserves at least a link. It is part of utopia temple so I’m guessing you guys have already ran into it.

Main earth tools
Wazmos tech calculator:
- Put in tech, land and gov and know the tech levels for a country, would be easier if the information was just available on a regular spy op. Now its just additional work…
- http://www.wazmo.us/cgi-bin/tech.cgi
Earth graphs
- all sorts of cool country and news stats.
Earthstats
- main hosting site used by most alliances, with loads of tools integrated.
Gamerstown
- Same as earthstats, but regarded as better by most. It is now largely defunct due to being hacked and the fix costing too much effort by the admins.
Tidy tool
- Takes your advisor screen data and put it into a more forum friendly version. Used by alliances to post status reports of their countries on the forums so easy advice can be given and so that you have an easy historical overview of your country at the end of the set.
IRC bots:
- There are so many IRC news bots, warchat support bots out there. Some just display news, some send SMS messages when a country is under attack, but all use the data offered by the servers…

tzar should indeed be officially endorsed as the biggest tool in Utopia.
August 2nd, 2008 at 12:05 am
And the gauntlet has been thrown down.
August 2nd, 2008 at 2:35 am
i dont know if its still an issue now but angel and parts of metatron where conflicting like some settings with metatron would prevent angel form reading the screen corectly
i do use both but only use metatron for the mass messaging and setting the generals sent to 4 automaticly i dont like metatron altering the throne page i would rather format it in a seperate window
August 2nd, 2008 at 8:29 pm
i like metatron, throne page and the way how you format it:)
Simply got used to it after using it for abit
August 3rd, 2008 at 10:45 am
Nice job OMAC!
Dodge, when you use metatron you have to use ctrl+shift+c to copy the pages instead of ctrl+a and then ctrl+c. It copies them without the metatron formatting and angel has no problem.
August 4th, 2008 at 12:07 am
The surprising thing is you actually hope that will happen under the misguided notion that I’d actually tell you what the advance schedules of their internal development plans contained :P
August 4th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
what you are kidding, utopia angel was a bug program
hacking tool, f that shit
August 6th, 2008 at 7:24 am
Hey,
Well i don’t like the color scheme of this blog much. The back ground is black and everything else that has to be in the foreground is having less brightness than what is required. Contrast is not good. Things are not catchy and readable by human eye.
For Example: go to the home page of blog i.e. http://blog.swirve.com on the right side of screen there is a search box. (Hint: in case you can’t find it, it is just above the Search button). Now this search box in not very easily visible. Same thing goes with other stuff, blue color and black color are not very good in combination, when it comes to showing related information. You guys need to change blue color to something else that is more catchy/readable.
Also the name’s of blog post are in shade of grey, not very readable again. It should have been better if they are in shade of White (something like cream color).
Now let us (game players) know how long will it take you guys to fix this up, According we can judge you how willing are you in taking this game ahead, for further development.
Cheers

Amrit

Just to let u know your mailserver is down swirvemail.com, hard to get acc-code then.
August 9th, 2008 at 11:45 am
I think it was a very good idea…
Utopia Angel have followed many the past years, it is a good and easy tool to use.
ofc here is to mention Utopiapimp too…
other good links alliancerankings.com (utopia news, good som+som calc, unique formater), Utopiatemple.com (CE formater, Angel) - these are the sites i mainly use for Utopia.
August 10th, 2008 at 5:00 am
finally! swirve is making progress…a bblog, at least that’s a MUST.
earth2025 ftw!
August 11th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
I second the color scheme issues. Dark grey on black is virtually unreadable (”Leave a Reply” and “25 Responses to EUT Program” in particular). Keep in mind that people may have laptops and high-glare situations which make the screens harder to read in practice than you may have in your offices.
August 15th, 2008 at 8:19 am
Since nobody else thought to do it, a link to metatron: http://metatronplus.googlepages.com/
Seriously, use this. It’s great. Since I installed it, I basically only need my win calc when I’m growing or distributing sci.
August 16th, 2008 at 4:39 am
Your blog is interesting!
Keep up the good work!
August 20th, 2008 at 8:37 am
I hope that in a matter of time, Angel style calculators as well as pimp-style intel sharing will all become part of the game
August 20th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
check: http://www.evolution2025.com :)D
September 5th, 2008 at 4:19 am
This is great news! Thanks for finally recognizing these guys hard work
Angel and Pimp are the 2 most important tools to use with Utopia IMHO
September 5th, 2008 at 4:22 am
Unfortunately we may not hear from molesquirrel (the admin of Pimp) since he no longer plays the game although he does try to keep the site somewhat updated
September 16th, 2008 at 3:00 am
Quote: “The list will be up in the next week or two…”
Is this list up yet?
I can’t find it…
September 17th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
iZa, molesquirrel can still be reached. But it would probably be better to do something like that from scratch due to poor coding.
